Long sandy shores
One of the best reasons to visit this coastal town is the glorious long stretch of sandy shoreline, perfect for activities, walking and soaking up the Somerset sunshine. It’s one of the longest beaches in Europe with over seven miles to explore. There are several beaches along this stretch including Berrow beach, Brean Down and the well-known Lighthouse spot.
Apex Leisure and Wildlife Park
This spectacular attraction covers over 42 acres and features captivating lakes and several walking routes. The area is bustling with nature and wildlife with the perfect opportunity to pack a picnic and pick a spot to enjoy the tranquillity of the park. There is also a play area and skate park to entertain the children.
Traditional arcades
Who doesn’t love trying to win a cuddly toy or playing the latest arcade games on a stay by the seaside? Head to Burnham Pier on your family break and enjoy slot machines, a game of tuppeny falls or walk to the end to admire views over the coastline.
Brean Down Fort
Just a short distance away, discover the majestic restored Napoleonic Fort set on a captivating peninsula along the Bristol Channel. This interesting spot offers spectacular views over nearby Weston-Super-Mare, Brean and the Welsh coastline.
Brean Down Bird Garden
This family-friendly attraction offers the perfect day out. The site is filled with exotic and tropical birds, including red macaws (shown above), in the surroundings of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There’s also chance to stop for refreshments at the café and pick up a memento of your visit in the gift shop too.
Animal Farm
Another fun day out for adults and children alike is the Animal Farm amusement park in nearby Berrow. There are plenty of activities, rides and attractions including the Caterpillar Rollercoaster, Safari Train and petting zoo plus much more. The kids can also become animal keepers with a spectacular hands-on animal experience, educational talks and a certificate of your visit.
