Nestling at the end of a long private driveway, this property is in a tranquil location surrounded by 20 acres of beautiful countryside. Enjoy the glorious views, birds and wildlife, and explore Exmoor National Park, which is just 500 yards from the cottage. You could also visit Tarr Steps ancient clapper bridge and the pub overlooking the River Barle. Dulverton is four miles away, with a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. A host of country pursuits are within easy reach, including fly and sea fishing, pony trekking, mountain biking and game and clay pigeon shooting. Porlock and Lynton and Lynmouth make an enjoyable day out and there are beaches within driving distance too at Woolacombe and Putsborough.

As well as Exmoor, this property is in an excellent location for local beaches – author Margaret Drabble’s favourite beach, Porlock Weir, is just 22 miles away and welcomes dogs. Closer to home, Dulverton is 4 miles away and features a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants to wander around. Walk the grounds of Dunster Castle (19 miles) and visit the working water mill; your dogs will love sniffing around the outdoors while the kids will enjoy learning about years gone by. Another hit with children is the Devon Railway Centre (18 miles), where they can clip tickets and wave the flags.

The cottage has a real countryside aesthetic throughout. The cosy lounge has a log burner, which you can curl up beside on cooler evenings. There’s also a smart TV and French doors which open up onto front of property. In the kitchen/diner is an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer, while the utility room has both a washing machine and a separate WC with space for coats and boots. There’s also a separate dining area perfect for a family dinner off the kitchen. Heading upstairs you’ll find the master double bedroom and a twin, both with far-reaching countryside views. The bathroom has a shower  and WC.

Outside is an enclosed garden with lawn, which is accessed over a small stream. There’s also garden furniture so you can sit outside and soak up the breath-taking surroundings.

Delightful cottage. Very comfortable, and attractively furnished. Peaceful and quiet. Pretty garden to sit in. Welcoming and friendly owners. Nice long drive to take dog for early morning walk. Need to be used to driving on lots of narrow lanes to get up onto the moors. Would definitely return. W&R Bristol

The cottage was extremely comfortable and well equipped. It is in an idyllic situation away from any road. There is a long tarmac lane leading to it and is surrounded by fields. There was ample places to walk our dog and after a day out sightseeing we were able to relax in the beautiful enclosed garden. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful throRead moreughout our stay. Very comfortable cottage, extremely well equipped and immaculately clean. We appreciated the well tended private garden with seating. The owners were available and helpful. Peaceful rural situation, so you have to be prepared to negotiate narrow lanes, as in much of rural Devon. Faultless. Can only recommend this property for comfort and cleanliness. Any potential occupiers need to be aware that access is down some narrow roads, but if you know Exmoor you know what to expect. Great location for walking holiday.

Beautiful roomy cottage in a lovely peaceful location, out of the way down a private road but close enough to Dulverton. We booked an online shop with Tesco for delivery and had no problems with them finding the place. Mobile signal is patchy but if you go outside towards the horse barn then a good signal can be had. wi-fi is strong enough to browsRead moree the internet and send messages but not to stream. Garden is semi private as it also serves as access to Threshers Barn. Lovely friendly ownerss Hide
