The pretty village of South Perrott is ideally placed for touring both Dorset and Somerset, as it sits right on the border and is surrounded by verdant countryside as well as good road links. The charming town of Beaminster is 3.5 miles away and has well-regarded bistros and a choice of pubs. Within 13 miles are many great attractions lining the Jurassic Coast, including picture postcard Lyme Regis, Charmouth, West Bay, and Eype, or head inland and visit the National Trust Montacute House, Tintinhull Gardens, or Lytes Cary Manor. From the lane, a private entrance door leads into this beautiful thatched cottage.

Once inside you are met with a striking hallway with an original flagstone floor (uneven in places and with 1 step down). To the right is a comfortable lounge with a decorative fireplace and Smart TV, and to the left is the cosy dining room with a second feature fireplace and space to enjoy leisurely meals together. Leading on from here is a stunning and sociable kitchen/dining room, with a pantry leading off from it. Next to the kitchen you will find the utility room. Also on the ground floor is a light and bright conservatory, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee, and a stylish bathroom with a shower over bath and WC. From the entrance hall, an open tread oak staircase rises to the first floor where there are three bedrooms, a double which has an en-suite shower room, a further double, and a single bedroom with an additional pull-out trundle bed.

Heading into the garden via the sunroom you will find a walled courtyard area and low steps up to a second terrace with garden furniture under the shade of an old apple tree. The garden is fully enclosed with an area of lawn and a vegetable patch, which guests are welcome to help themselves to seasonal fresh produce.

A very lovely cottage with great outside space if you have dogs with you. Equipped with everything you need for your stay. I would say that the pictures dont do the property justice - its better in real life!

Lovely cottage in an accessible location for much of Dorset. Jurassic coast is stunning and we had beautiful weather so were able to enjoy the garden after being out for the day visiting Lulworth Cove, Chesil Beach, West Bay and the villages en route. Although on a main road it is quiet at night and the traffic didnt bother us during the day. The bRead moreed was very comfortable and we both slept well. The parking space at the cottage is tight and wouldnt really be suitable for a large car. Hide

Riverside was enjoyable and a good location. The rental company did contact me to say there were 2 maintenance issues which would be sorted out. These were not. The issue with a shower turned out to be very frustrating as sometimes the hand held shower worked and some times it did not. I rang the company back to be told that nothing could be done dRead moreuring our stay about the shower or the light. Cooking on the Aga was very difficult despite instructions. Sadly disappointing as lovely cottage. Hide

The cottage is nicely placed for visiting Somerset National Trust properties as well as Dorset. Poor parking for only one car with a tricky bit of yellow wall in the way of the doors. Some good local dog walks - The Winyards Gap Inn is worth the walk! Fantastic views too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riverside cottage. It has been sensitively and beautifully restored to modern standards, in a lovely area with great local walks and 30 min drive to the coast. We shall definitely be returning.

A lovely week spent in the cottage, found it to be very comfortable and ideally placed for exploring Dorset.Found a couple of lovely walks with our dog,one of which led to the Winyards Gap pub which I would recommend, the climb is challenging but helped by knowing a well earned drink at the other end.Be warned for those that are tall the front door iRead mores hard as I found out more than once.Would certainly visit again. A lovely cottage with excellent facilities. We particularly liked the conservatory, a great place to sit when the weather was raining.
