A bright and light-filled holiday property for up to four guests, this stunning hideaway is a perfect base for couples and smaller families exploring the vibrant city of Bath. Overlooking the picturesque Kennet and Avon Canal, the fresh and relaxing Scandi-style home makes a great base for exploring the area’s historic waterways, hiring narrow boats or enjoying long walks along the towpath into the country and towards the Saxon-era town of Bradford-on-Avon (7 miles). The property lies at the heart of Widcombe, a friendly district with a wealth of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, just half a mile south of Bath itself. The city centre is less than a mile away, with historic landmarks including the Assembly Rooms, the Pump Room, the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey, alongside venues and attractions such as the Jane Austen Centre, the Theatre Royal and Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein.

Entering the property, head up the stairs to the light and welcoming galley-style kitchen/diner which has a range of useful equipment and a charming central dining table. A flight of six stairs leads up to a fresh, bright and airy lounge where you will find ample seating and a TV, with light streaming in through the skylights in the vaulted and beamed ceiling. The two bedrooms are on the lower floors: one room can be made up as a twin or super-king-size and has a sleek en-suite bathroom with a bath and a walk-in shower. On the ground floor, there’s a pretty bedroom with a stylish king-size four-poster bed and an en-suite shower room.

Back outside, there’s a parking space for one car and easy access onto the canal towpath, making a lovely spot for a quiet walk in the morning. At the property, a couple of steps lead from the lounge to a glass apex door which opens out onto a sweet balcony with seating, providing a lovely spot to sit out and watch the comings and goings at the Wash House Lock.

We loved the location of the property, which was great for walking into Bath or along the canal and river. It was also easy to catch buses from nearby. There was even a Coop about 5mins away to get anything you had forgotten from. We loved the modern interior, but found the ground floor bed rather uncomfortable. We also found the house got a lotRead more of Solar gain during the day, so we had to cool it down every evening. Watching the canal boats going in and out of the lock from the balcony was very relaxing, and we were treated to a hot air balloon flying overhead one evening. The parking space was great, but difficult to get into as cars were parked all the way up the little lane, and one of the students in the terrace house to the left of the property from the road parked in our spot one night when he couldn't find somewhere nearby to park, which was a bit inconvenient, as one of our party can't walk too far. All in all we had an enjoyable stay, and look forward to going back there in the future. Hide

A lovely location close to the station and the city. Great to watch the boats go past. A good place to come without a car as so much is within walking distance.

Location of cottage could not be better for exploring Bath and local area. All town can be reached within a half hour walk. General facilities ideal for family of 4 with one car.

This is a gem. Beautiful surroundings, excellent facilities. Communication was soooo friendly. I love this house. This would be my only choice for accommodation in Bath. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay. A lovely location and nice modern cottage with comfortable furniture. Lovely location, with nice views. Easy walking distance to town. We had a couple of issues that we had to contact the company about. Overall we had a good experience and would stay again.

This was our third visit to Bath. We wanted to stay two weeks and invite friends from Switzerland to join us for a reunion. The Bridge Lock Mews home was the perfect accommodation and more than met our hopes and expectations.

The property was situated in a great location and had everything we could want. It was in a quiet area, close to a convenience store, a couple of pubs and cafes. It was a short walk into Bath city centre where there was plenty to see and do. Lots of lovely places to eat or have a coffee and watch the world go by.

Perfect location, sitting on the balcony watching the boats going through the locks. 10-15 min walk to the centre of bath or no: 2 bus from the bridge to Parade gardens. Nice walk along the tow path to Sydney Gardens or Bath Skyline (fabulous views). Local Co-op for necessities and a few pubs round the corner.
