Here you can also see the earthen ramparts where an Iron Age hillfort and Norman castle once stood. Venture into Taunton to potter in independent shops, dine out in a choice of eateries and visit the Castle and Museum of Somerset. Taunton Racecourse is less than 1 mile from the property. Plan a day out to the Quantock Hills, 6.5 miles away, or the Jurassic coast at Lyme Regis, 20 miles away, where the beach is renowned for its fossils.
