There are many Thomas Hardy locations (his mother was born and married in the village), Sherborne with its abbey and two castles, Montacute House, Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm museum, Haynes Motor Museum, the Cerne Giant and on the coast Abbotsbury, West Bay and Bridport, Weymouth and Lyme Regis. For more energetic activities, sailing is available on the nearby reservoir and golf enthusiasts can try out one of the nearby golf clubs in Yeovil or Sherborne.
