The village itself offers an array of amenities, including bespoke and boutique shops, age old pubs, highly acclaimed restaurants and lots of pretty tea rooms. It's also renowned for local events such as the quintessential country fairs held in the castle grounds during July and August as well as the beautiful Dunster by Candlelight evenings that are held during the first weekend of December. Just a short drive away are the seaside villages of Porlock, Lynton & Lynmouth. Walkers and dog owners will love finding the many beautiful walks straight from the garden gate. Access directly into Dunster Deer Park and The Coleridge Way. The start of The South West Coast Path is just a short drive away in Minehead along with it's sandy beaches. National Trust property Holnicote Estate is 6 miles away for stunning walks to Horner Wood, Selworthy village and the all encompassing views from Dunkery Beacon. The beaches of Bossington and Blue Anchor are a hop along the coast road offering family fun and explorations, while the surf mecca's of Woolacombe, Putsborough, Croyde and Saunton are an hours drive west. Dunster beach is a short walk from High House.

Enter through the antique studded oak door into the wooden tiled hallway which leads to the lounge, dining room, kitchen and study. The lounge with Smart TV/DVD and wireless music system is the most wonderful relaxation space with an open fire for those cooler months to snuggle up and take in your favourite movies. The formal dining room adorned with quality furnishings is a must for that special occasion or family celebration with seating for ten with an open fire and French chandelier for added luxury. The pantry boasts a Range oven and gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer. From here step through to the traditional French styled kitchen/diner with a four oven Aga and a well loved dining table for twelve, perfect for that lazy breakfast and to plan your day. There is a door to the impressive but cosy family snug just off the kitchen/dining room with Smart TV/DVD and a wood burner effect gas fire. Accessed from the hall is the library, with an open fire, beautiful desk and a pair of arm chairs, great for a morning read or to catch up on some emails. Also, on the ground floor is the utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer that leads to a separate shower room with a WC. The central staircase will take you to the first floor, or a second staircase accessed from the kitchen will take you up to the second floor bedroom. The bedrooms are all uniquely and carefully styled and are adorned with soft linen to ensure that perfect night’s sleep. Also, on the first floor is the shower room with shower and WC. Bedroom five is located on the second floor, a huge, stunning bedroom enjoying commanding views over the village with a four-poster super-king-size bed and a vaulted ceiling, it's age old wooden beams authenticated to have come from the Armada ships of Elisabeth 1's historical victory. There is an additional bathroom with a bath, shower and WC on this floor.

Heading outside the varied gardens are enchanting and include a walled lawn garden that is perfect for relaxing on a summer afternoon. There is a large patio area with top of the range charcoal barbeque and an oak garden table for twelve guests, with an outside sound system and evening lighting, all situated under a pergola with a mature grapevine for summer shade. A large luxury hot tub off the rear of the lawn in a private corner is a special retreat, while a gate at the far end of the lawn leads directly onto Dunster Deer Park and Castle Grounds. A further area of garden with a Mediterranean influence is found beyond a cobbled area with a boot room, where guests can store their bikes. A very interesting and different house with loads of character and a lovely garden. Great location for exploring Dunster with the the town, castle and park all on the doorstep. We enjoyed the extra facilities such as the pool table, darts and hot tub and different garden seating areas. Good place for a mixed family group.

Very nice house, plenty of different rooms so you dont have to be on top of each other. Plenty of shops/cafes within walking distance but beware everything seems to close up early afternoon. Small deli which has a small supply of bread/milk but not much else therefore a trip to Mineahead a 6 min drive is necessary.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this deceptively large and characterful property. Ideally located to explore all that Dunster and the surrounding area has to offer. Would be wonderful to stay here in warmer weather so as to make full use of the large, beautiful garden.

Stayed at the house for a family getaway weekend, it was amazing! We had the worst weather pretty much rained all weekend but with the games rooms / hot tub we had plenty to do. Really nice Sunday lunch at the Luttrell Arms just down the road too. Cant fault any part of it.

This is a stunning property that exceeded our expectations in many ways. Very comfortable accommodation for a large group, with plenty of space and activities for all of us. The location in Dunster is brilliant, a short walk to local facilities including the delightful Lutteral Arms. Short drive to supermarkets when needed and, of course, to the ouRead moretstanding local area including the amazing Deer Park right on the doorstep. Hide
