Relax with the whole family at this fabulous thatched cottage, which has undergone a careful renovation and has a useful annexe. Peacefully situated at the foot of the Quantock Hills and on the Coleridge Way, a 51-mile walk through the stunning Somerset countryside, the Brendon Hills and Exmoor. Located 2 miles from the large village of Williton with shops, cafes, and pubs and 4 miles from the small seaside town of Watchet with its marina, harbour, shops, eateries and weekly summer market. There are rock pooling and fossil hunting beaches on either side of Watchet harbour, and pebble beaches at Blue Anchor (7 miles) and Dunster (9 miles).

Step back in time on board a steam train on the West Somerset Railway or enjoy a visit to the coastal town of Minehead (10.5 miles), with its sandy beach, or the county town of Taunton (14 miles). This L-shaped semi-detached cottage has many original features including feature fireplaces, exposed beams, and quirky uneven floors, which have been carefully combined with modern comforts. Step inside and you will find yourself in the hall, which leads to the lounge, dining room and upstairs accommodation. The lounge is a wonderfully relaxing space with comfortable sofas and a Smart TV. You’ve got a well-equipped galley kitchen and can spend mealtimes together around the dining table in the light and airy dining room. Completing the downstairs accommodation is a utility room with a WC. Head back to the hall and upstairs to five beautifully decorated bedrooms which all have a countryside view or a view of the enclosed garden. The master bedroom has a super-king-size bed, sink and a balcony overlooking the garden. There is a single bedroom next door which could also be used for a travel cot. There are two double bedrooms, both with sinks, and the final bedroom is a twin. Completing the upstairs accommodation is a family bathroom. The adjoining two-storey annexe has its own front door, opening on to an entrance hall. It has a lounge/dining room with feature Aga and a kitchen on the ground floor, and a king-size bedroom and a bathroom with shower attachment upstairs. It is heated by electric heaters. There is a door leading from the landing into one of the double bedrooms of the main cottage, which is the only internal access between the two.

Heading outside from the front door of the main property, you will find a large enclosed, secluded garden with a seating area, which is a lovely spot for al fresco dining. The annexe has a private, fenced garden with a lockable gate leading to the main garden. There is private off-road parking for five cars.

  • 6 bedrooms – 1 super-king-size, 2 doubles, 1 twin and 1 single in the main property, 1 king-size in the annexe

We stayed here in February half term in pouring rain and struggled to entertain ourselves for the week. In better weather it would be a good base to walk from. The cottage was warm and well equipped with a secure garden for the dog. A beautiful and comfortable cottage. A great garden that was secure for our dog . Plenty of local walks from the cottage and just a short drive to the Quantock hills for longer walks. Plenty of room in the cottage and comfortable seating. We were lucky to have a some good weather in October and enjoyed seating in the garden for coffee a few times.
