Surround yourself in Somerset’s splendour at this pretty stone cottage adjacent to the owner’s home in the conservation village of Coat – just 7 miles outside Yeovil. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, it’s perfect for families or groups who are looking for a quaint hideaway to call home while they explore the countryside together, with plenty of lovely walks nearby for guests bringing a four-legged friend. Head into Martock (1 mile) to see its historic ham stone buildings, browse the independent shops, enjoy the fantastic cafés, restaurants and traditional pubs, and visit the striking 15th-century All Saints’ Church. There are several beautiful National Trust properties within a few miles, including Montacute House, Barrington Court and Lytes Cary Manor. Families and aviation enthusiasts can explore the impressive collection at the Fleet Air Arm Museum (around 6 miles), while petrol heads will love the Haynes International Motor Museum (7.5 miles), home to the UK’s largest collection of cars and motorcycles. For a memorable day out, the charming abbey town of Sherborne (12 miles) offers honey-coloured streets, independent shops and historic castles, while the seaside town of Lyme Regis and the stunning Jurassic Coast are around 25 miles away. Further afield, make your way to Wiveliscombe – the Gateway to Exmoor National Park – to browse antique shops, enjoy cosy pubs and explore the beautiful moorland landscapes.

Step inside your cottage and drop off your outdoor gear in the handy boot room. Next, you’ll find an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a striking vaulted ceiling, bi-fold doors leading out into the garden, and modern styling throughout. Cook up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen and share a casual meal in the dining area. Afterwards, catch up on your favourite TV shows in the lounge area. At the end of the day, retreat to one of the beautifully-styled bedrooms – the large king-size on the ground floor, or the lovely twin bedroom in the eaves (accessed via a steep staircase). Completing the layout, you’ll find a smart shower room on the ground floor.

Outside, via bi-fold doors, there is a large enclosed private patio garden complete with outdoor furniture and a charcoal BBQ – ideal for relaxing after a day exploring. Private parking is available for several cars.
