Choose from a variety of accommodation to suit your stay

Famous for its legendary music festival, Glastonbury is one of the most well-known locations in Somerset. While the music may cause the headlines around Glastonbury, the town itself is a small traditional location with lots of history and its own unique appeal.

If you combine your Glastonbury holiday to combine with the music festival then you’ll be treated to world-class musicians and plenty of culture at the nation’s favourite festival. Oasis, Blur, Rod Stewart, Jay-Z and Beyonce are all previous headliners at the event which reads as a who’s who of musicians. There’s much more to see at the festivals with dance, comedy, theatre and cabaret acts amongst the other performers you will see at the festival.

It is a very spiritual town dominated by surrounding tors. Visit the red and white springs, take a ‘tor’ tour or look around the Abbey. Glastonbury Abbey, which has been partly demolished, is still a popular visitor attraction and some local churches actually arrange pilgrimages to the Abbey through the year. The church has the grave of the legendary and perhaps some might say mythical, King Arthur, who supposedly frequented the area during his reign.

While the music festival may be the most famous event that takes place in Glastonbury, there are a number of other celebrations throughout the year that you can enjoy. Displays of local arts and craft talent, as well as dances, harvest festivals and a brilliant carnival mean that whatever the season, you’re going to be entertained. Glastonbury Tor which overlooks the town is a fantastic spot from which to take in views of the county. The remains of the St Michael’s Church at the pinnacle of the tor make it an inspiring view and wonderful back-drop for your Somerset holiday.

On a Glastonbury holiday you’re well placed to see some much of what Somerset has to offer. Both Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare offer the promise of traditional British day out beside the seaside with plenty of laughs, sand and the odd portion of fish and chips. The area surrounding Cheddar is essential to visit while on holiday in Somerset with these breath taking natural cliffs and caves the perfect picture opportunity. A little further afield are the cities of Bristol and Bath both full of rich culture heritage and examples of architectural brilliance.
