What is Somerset famous for?

For such a serene and modest county, Somerset has a surprising number of claims to fame! A cheese which is a favourite across the world, showcaves of international scientific interest, England's smallest city and more celebrities than you can shake a stick at - its accolades are wide and varied!

Picturesque Somerset, all year round

Somerset is home to some fantastic points of interest to visit on a day out.  No matter what the weather, come rain or come shine, Somerset has many fascinating all-weather places to head to.

A seaside escape

Located in North Somerset, you’ll be within easy reach of the county’s cities, perfect for sightseeing and visiting attractions, while there’s a vast expanse of countryside and coastline to explore, too.

When it comes to things to do in the town, there’s plenty to keep everyone occupied. The Tropicana Weston, Weston-super-Mare's iconic seafront landmark, is a hub of arts and culture, while the aquarium SeaQuarium Weston is situated on its own unique pier on Weston-super-Mare seafront. There’s also a golf club and cinema to keep the masses entertained.

As you’d expect, there are plenty of pubs and restaurants, including the popular Bistrot Pierre, while motorsport fans will love the Weston Beach Race, labelled the “biggest, maddest and baddest motorsport event”, which takes place every year.
