Lovely cottage perfectly situated, excellent for dogs, brilliant enclosed safe garden. Only one down side. The stairs are narrow steep and with 2 bends. Ok if you're used to stairs in castles or church towers.

I couldn't fault the cleanliness, facilities, equipment and welcome from the hosts. Being "elderly" the staircase is steep, narrow and twisty but being fit it was no problem. The description should read "not suitable for children and anyone with restricted mobility". The description of location should also read that it is located "just outside the Read moresmall village of Withypool". The closest dog walking involves a 5 minute walk down a steep hill on the road which didn't suit my border collie. Hide

The pictures on the website show off the cottage perfectly. Lovely welcome by owners; great information pack; good central heating & fire; and excellent garden for the dogs. There is a steep hill down to the pub, which is well worth the walk. A great location on Exmoor.

We had a four night stay at Fox cottage, it is in what I would call a very quiet location half way up a steep hill, the accommodation quite unique being old stables, well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge with TV. Lovely outlook, on approach to the cottages the look is not very good. Needs a good sweep and tidy up. Staircase very narrow and tight to go up. A lot of very narrow lanes to navigate to get anywhere from where from the cottage. The walk to the pub is not easy as it sounds, very steep hill back and further away than it sounds.
