Mendip Hills Holidays |

Choose from a variety of accommodation to suit your stay

The Mendip Hills are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and are situated south of Bristol and Bath overlooking the Avon Valley and the Somerset Levels. The Mendips are famously known for their caves and many of these caves have been discovered through the years with the most renowned for visitors to the area are Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole.

If you appreciate stunning landscapes, then a holiday in the Mendip Hills is sure to be enjoyed. The hills themselves open up plenty of opportunities for making the most of the great outdoors, whether that’s by foot, bike or horseback! In certain points you’ll be rewarded with views across the Quantock Hills, Glastonbury Tor and even Wales. Also, many of the lesser known caves make the area popular for caving. You’ll find plenty of reservoirs too, so those with a passion for sailing or fishing will be in their element. Towns and villages in the Mendips have incredible ancient history and some date back as far as the Neolithic and Bronze Age eras. As such there are a number of barrows and forts to see from which examples of ancient artefacts have been collected. Towns and villages to visit while in the area include Winscombe, Shipham and Blagdon. The city of Wells is also located here and when visiting you’ll find an impressive 12th century cathedral, and a historical city centre. It’s actually the smallest city in England but still boasts plenty to keep all ages entertained.

Laced throughout the Mendip Hills you’ll find a variety restaurants and traditional pubs where you can stop for a bite to eat. Sit outside a quaint café and enjoy a breath of fresh air, or instead head out for an evening and treat yourself to a hearty meal. On a summer’s evening there isn’t many better things to do than sitting back in a beer garden with a beverage of your choice, embracing the sunshine and taking in the countryside.

For a fun family day out, make sure to visit Wookey Hole as there is much more to explore than just the caves. From a museum and mirror maze, to pirate golf and life size dinosaurs, there’s plenty of fun to be had during a trip to Wookey Hole. Other attractions in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty include the Shoe Museum, Somerset Lavender, and Clarks Shopping Village.
