A carnival experience

In the town itself, you will find awe-inspiring Georgian architecture and well as other historic structures that date back to medieval times. As you stroll through the ancient streets, you will be greeted by the sight of pubs, restaurants and independent shops, among other things to do. Within the town, head to the Cornhill Market where you will be able to sample and buy some local wares as a reminder of your holiday. There are plenty of beaches nearby, too, including Burnham-on-Sea.

The town is famed for the well renowned Bridgwater Carnival event that takes place annually at the beginning of November. The event is said to be the largest procession of illuminated vehicles and performers in the world and has taken place in the town since around the time of the gunpowder plot in 1605.
