Holidays in Crewkerne

Crewkerne is a very pleasant Somerset town located close to the southern border with Dorset. Close to Yeovil, Ilminster and Chard, Crewkerne is in one of the lushest parts of the county. The town's origins stretch back as far as Saxon times, and nowadays it stands at the centre of a large conservation area. Crewkerne has a station giving it direct access to the national network.

Why visit Crewkerne?

If you love unspoilt views of the English countryside, then Crewkerne is for you. Climb up to Bincombe Beeches Nature Reserve for a gorgeous panorama of the county below. The surrounding fields are crisscrossed by footpaths and bridleways for you to explore.

Things to do in Crewkerne

The town has a popular conservation area with the 15th century St Bartholomew’s Church that overlooks Bincombe Valley and some fine examples of the local 19th-century architecture. Coins were minted in the Crewkerne area during the reign of Ethelred (978-1016).

Why stay in a Crewkerne cottage?

With beautiful walks, landmarks and views to enjoy in and around Crewkerne, it matters that you find the right kind of holiday home for your break. We have country cottages in Crewkerne perfect for romantic getaways, and modern family homes that are just perfect for your Somerset holiday.

Three must-see places to visit

  • Yeovil Country Park – This wonderful natural park is found at the heart of Yeovil.
  • Bincombe Beeches Nature Reserve – For more open spaces and country air, head to this great birdwatching spot.
  • St Bartholomew’s Church – There are some great views across the Levels from this 15th century church.
