A fashionable village

The village or Isle of Wedmore is full of interesting architecture, stories and sights. One of the most beautiful visions is the imposing 15th century Church of St Mary, which has links to Saxon treasures, with hundreds of coins being found in the graveyard in 1853.

Recently, the village has gained a following as a centre for wedding fashion, with both men and women flocking to the independent shops and boutiques in order to find their outfit of choice. Once you’ve found your ensemble, treat yourself to a bite to eat or a drink in one of the fantastic pubs and restaurants, including The George, The New Inn and The Swan.

Wedmore is also known for its many jovial events, including the Turnip Prize for bad art which is awarded on the same day as the better known Turner Prize competition.
