Holidays in Exmoor National Park

Exmoor is an area of hilly open moorland covering both West Somerset and North Devon. Home to some of the highest cliffs in the country, it is a spectacular place to walk, ride and cycle as well as stargazing in the Dark Skies Reserve. A National Park with over 260 miles to explore, with or without a four-legged friend, it is also within easy reach of wonderful coastline as well as being 16 miles from Taunton and 37 miles from Exeter.

Why visit Exmoor?

This unique tranquil park is truly a wonder of natural beauty. With over 37 miles of glorious coastline with huge cliffs and pretty bays, to moorlands bursting with heather and mossy woods, it really is the perfect place to spend a memorable holiday full of coast, country and history.

Things to do in Exmoor:

Apart from the wonderful landscape, the area is dotted with pretty little harbours and medieval towns and villages and is within driving distance of lots of wonderful beaches and seaside resorts such as Minehead and Ilfracombe. Stargaze from the Dark Skies Reserve and go fishing, horse riding and coasteering.

Why stay in an Exmoor cottage?

We have a wonderful selection of cottages in Exmoor. Whatever your reason for visiting West Somerset, be it a family celebration or a last-minute break, this is the perfect place to base yourself while visiting all of the glorious coastline and traditional towns and villages nearby.

Three must see things in Exmoor:

  • Spend a clear evening stargazing at Europe’s first designated Dark Skies Reserve, just wrap up warm!
  • Visit the National Trust’s Dunster Castle, high up on a wooded hill and a great example of 17th-century interior architecture.
  • Visit the quirky museums, including Dovery Manor and Dunster.
