Take the challenge of climbing to Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor and Somerset standing 520m above sea levels. The views from the summit are breath taking with views out over both the Bristol and English Channels.

Why not jump into the saddle of a horse for the chance to see a lot more of Exmoor than you would on your two feet? Keep your eyes peeled for the elusive Beast of Exmoor that is reported to roam this vast land with rumours that a cougar, black leopard or puma is the phantom cat. Jump over the border to Devon and visit Exmoor Zoo and a further collection of animals including, cheetahs, tamarins and penguins.

The West Somerset Railway is a 22 mile heritage railway that runs from Minehead to Taunton passing through some charming Somerset locations along the way including Watchet and Bishops Lydeards. There aren’t many better ways to explore Somerset than being pulled along by a steam locomotive.

Tour the local towns and villages to get an authentic Exmoor experience during your holiday. Minehead is one of the most popular towns due to its traditional British seaside vibe and walking opportunities as it’s the starting point of the South West Coast Path. Dulverton is right at the heart of Exmoor and is home to a number of welcoming pubs and restaurants, a lovely spot to relax next to the River Barle all year round.

Visitors can take advantage of a number of events and shows that take place on Exmoor every year such as the Exmoor Pony Society Stallion Parade. There are also numerous exhibitions of art and crafts and tours of Dunster Castle, which stands tall above the village of Dunster and is maintained by the National Trust.
