A picturesque location offering a real flavour of Devon life. Wonderful to be welcomed with a cream tea and seasonal flowers on the table. We used Pound Retreat as a base from which to travel around and got a real flavour of West Country life. First time we have stayed in a holiday cottage and we will do it again.

Rob, Sara and their boys are a really lovely family, they made us very welcome. lovely to find a cream tea waiting for us on our arrival. The village and surrounding area was beautiful, we felt very at home. Great place for walks and a short drive to the beachs on the coast line, perfect.

This cottage was spotlessly clean with everything we expected to see with regards to equipment and more. The TV in the bedroom for instance. The shower was lovely and there was plenty of storage for clothes etc. The weather was very hot during our stay and it was nice to sit out on the private decking area.

Lovely clean cottage, and the homemade scones were delicious, very much appreciated after a long journey. The only reason we wouldnt book again is that its not suitable for a big dog.

The annexe was clean and comfortable. Fresh scones, jam, cream and flowers on arrival...lovely. Location perfect for exploring the area. Downside is the small decked area outside the annexe, owners stipulated on a set of rules dogs not allowed to foul the decking, even though it was green and slippery and needed a jet wash so had to walk the dogs aRead moret 7am and again last thing at night or allowed upstairs. The annexe is fine for a couple without dogs. Definitely not a dog friendly annexe Hide

We found the owners to be very friendly and all the extras provided appreciated. However the bed was hard and uncomfortable and the noise coming from the owners shower at 5 in the morning was very unwelcome. We would not return as we found it to be very expensive for an annexe. The local pub had closed so there was nowhere local to enjoy a meal andRead more drink within walking distance. We have previously paid much less for a cottage. Hide

Generally the cottage was excellent. We were a little disappointed that the dogs were requested to remain downstairs, we have a rescue dog who has never slept away from us so one of us stayed with the dogs downstairs. We felt that this should be pointed out in the details it may have affected our choice.
