This sympathetically renovated country house offers exceptional style and space and sits in 6 acres of gardens on the banks of the River Ding. A remarkable place for special occasions and family gatherings. A great spot for those wishing to enjoy all that Somerset, Devon and Dorset have to offer. There is a choice of walks, cycle routes and golf at Cricket St Thomas (10.5 miles). Retail therapy can be found in the towns of Ilminster (3 miles), Chard (6 miles) and Taunton (10 miles). Explore the famous World Heritage Jurassic coastline where you can go fossil hunting on Charmouth beach (18 miles) or visit Lyme Regis (19.5 miles), Dorset’s iconic seaside town. Nearby are National Trust's Barrington Court (6 miles), Montacute House (13.5 miles) and don’t forget to visit the Quantock Hills.

From the moment you step through the front door you will be struck by the character of the house, which dates back to 1850 and has recently enjoyed a significant and sympathetic renovation. The entrance to the house is from a formal lawned garden with a stone path from the parking area. Step into the hall which leads to the principle rooms. The ‘White Salon’ (lounge) offers comfy seating and an open fire and has French doors that open into the ‘Orangery’ (dining room). There are bi-fold doors that open to the formal gardens and a large table where you can spend quality time with your loved ones, or celebrate an occasion with friends. The ‘Red Salon’ (lounge) has classical oak panelling, burgundy red walls, comfy seating, and a wood burner to curl up in front of. The ‘Champagne Room’ is the TV lounge with a TV and open fire. There is also a useful cloakroom with two WC’s. The well-equipped kitchen has an electric AGA and is a great space for cooking lazy breakfasts or a special meal. There is also a second smaller kitchen with an electric hob and oven and additional appliances and there is a pantry and a utility room too. When the day draws to a close, retire to bed in one of the eight bedrooms all luxuriously decorated in their own individual style with views of the river or gardens and all with Smart TV’s. The first bedroom ‘Kinky Noir’ is located on the ground floor and is a super-king-size, with a door to the riverside and an en-suite bathroom with freestanding bath and a separate shower. Head upstairs from one of the two staircases to the remaining seven bedrooms; there is ‘Shades of Gris’ a super-king-size with a large nickel freestanding bath in the bedroom and an en-suite shower room. ‘Blanc de Blancs’ is a super-king-size with an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bath and a separate shower. ‘Moody Bleu’ is a king-size bedroom and there is a bathroom with a bath and separate shower across the landing. ‘Rose Blush’ is a king-size bedroom with a step down to the en-suite bathroom with a bath and separate shower, there is a separate WC for this room. ‘Argent Provocateur’ and ‘J’adore L’Or’ are both king-size bedrooms with the final bedroom being a twin room. Completing this floor is an immaculate family shower room.

Venturing outside is a large and beautiful garden; the front of the house sees a classical French country house garden with a beautiful, gothic font, sitting in the centre of a stone path and a romantic swinging love seat. The courtyard is the beating heart of the property and offers a hot tub, BBQ and large fire pit area with seating for twenty, a spacious terrace, ideal for al fresco dining and a bar, all intended to offer the ideal outdoor experience. To the rear of the property lies the tennis court, boules pit and crocket lawn, for the more actively minded. There is also a field and wooded area, which guests are welcome to use, but sometimes it is home to a flock of sheep. The property is located on the banks of the River Ding, a tributary of the Ile, which runs to one side of the property, but it is unfenced, so children must take care. Parking can be found at the front of the house, which can provide parking for a large number of cars.

Fabulous house, with so much on offer. Greg and Anna have thought of everything. What was special was the regular communication, especially prior to our stay, it was very reassuring. All rooms are very well appointed, with wonderful beds & bedding. Thank you both very much, we hope to return.
