This characterful cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Montacute, home of the National Trust’s Montacute House and Gardens. Almost the entire village is made from dusty yellow hamstone, with a beautiful large square, two pubs, a post office, tearoom, and a petrol station with a small shop for essentials all within 450 metres. From the village walk to St Michael’s Tower which boasts breathtaking views across South Somerset, or visit Ham Hill Country Park (2 miles), a 390-acre former Iron Age hillfort. Visit the market towns of Yeovil (5 miles), Crewkerne (9 miles) and Ilminster (10.5 miles). Explore the famous World Heritage Jurassic coastline where you can go fossil hunting on Charmouth beach or visit Lyme Regis, Dorset’s iconic seaside town, both within 25 miles. This cottage has many original features including a fireplace, flagstone floors, exposed stonework and beams, as well as many modern comforts.
Step inside and you will immediately find yourself in a cosy lounge with a wood burner and a Smart TV. This leads via a step up to the kitchen/diner which boasts original flagstone floors and benefits from a modern extension, accessed via a second step. Here you will find an immaculate compact kitchen where you can enjoy cooking lazy breakfasts or special family meals. The dining table overlooks the sunny courtyard and on warm sunny days you can open the bi-fold doors and make the space larger. Completing the downstairs accommodation is a useful WC. Heading up the steep cottage-style stairs to the first floor you will find two bedrooms, both king-size. Completing the first floor is a family bathroom. The third bedroom can be found on the second floor and has been built into the eaves of the property with a stairgate at the top of the staircase. It is a light and airy double room with two bean bags, a Wii games console and games.
Outside, there is a private secluded courtyard garden with a Japanese-inspired long narrow pond with a water feature, which is home to many fish. Guests will find a table and chairs where you can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining; a perfect space to relax in. To the side of the cottage and running the length of the property is a private, lockable side alley which makes great storage for bikes.
